Environmental Sector Volunteering and Internships
Green Works Africa offers environmental advocacy internships and volunteer opportunities where individuals work in African communities to address ecological challenges and promote sustainable living. Our primary focus is engaging schools, women’s groups, and households to create lasting environmental change.
Our main target groups are schools, women groups and households.
We use our social media channels to reach the public and have about 50,000 followers.

You can join the environmental programs throughout the year, as they are ongoing.
We have 15 to 30 volunteers and interns in Tanzania’s programs.
Your typical working day is from AM 9 to PM 5 from Monday to Friday.
The internship outcome is to learn to use and get experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacitation.
Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy. Interns work in teams of international students and volunteers.
Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests to empower our daily work with the communities.
You can add after-work activities such as football and vocational education tasks.
Many participants join our volunteer safari and tours, climb Mt Kilimanjaro or relax at the Zanzibar beaches.

Climate Change

Daily tasks, among others, are as follows:

Estimating the effect of climate change on rural Tanzania’s economy, specifically for agriculture
To estimate the impact on the vulnerable groups of women, youth, and people living with disabilities.
To advocate for societies about climate change and human rights through social media.
To create new advocacy platforms and content.
To find solutions such as promoting sustainable business and new crop production.
We conduct field advocacy work in societies and schools and develop new social media platforms and content to reach the general public.
Disaster Management Internship

Disaster risk management is the application of disaster risk reduction policies and strategies to prevent new disaster risks, reduce existing disaster risks, and manage residual risk, contributing to the strengthening of resilience and reduction of disaster losses.
In the Disaster Management program, volunteers and interns educate Tanzanian people about resilience from the early to the last stage of disasters, such as mitigation, preparedness, response, and prevention at schools and the public in common.
We work together with various governmental and non-governmental institutions.
A typical fieldwork task is preparing an action plan for ongoing disasters, as we did in 2024 for the Rufiji River flooding in the Selous area.
