Volunteer and Internship Programs
Green Works Africa partners with African NGOs in community development programs.
We focus on developing and implementing sustainably viable solutions for households and communities.
We run multiple ranges of commercial and non-commercial initiatives. Many placements are partnership initiatives with our sister NGO Art in Tanzania and other Tanzanian entities.
Typical Day
Your working hours are typically from 9 AM to 5 PM, depending on the program you are working on.
Your lodging fee includes breakfast and dinner. Lunches are not included, as most participants are out on their placements. Local eating places are numerous and affordable.
Local transport is not included. Most of the placements are within walking distance, and it is low-cost.
Our team will assist with all issues, such as language problems. Generally, you can perform all communications in English.
Accommodation
Green Works Africa shares a volunteer—student compound in Madale village, about 30 km North of Dar es Salaam city centre.
We have single, double, and dormitory rooms. Our kitchen and canteen are located in our large tropical garden, where we also have a private bar.
We have a large, open office with free Wi-Fi.
Safety is excellent in Tanzania so that you can move around peacefully.
The Benefits and Perks
Accommodation with breakfast and dinner is EUR 175 per week and is a personal expense. However, the cost drops to EUR 125 per week after the first 13 weeks.
Airport transfers from and to EUR 120 are a personal expense.
The charity visa for immigration is USD 50 and is a personal expense. A visa with multiple entries of less than 12 months is $250.
We pay you a USD 50 per month stipend. It is small but 2x Tanzania’s national minimum wage.
Flights are a personal expense.
Local transport in Tanzania is a personal expense, but small if needed.
